My Weight today

Hi,
Well, as I've said before, when you want to succeed you must just keep pushing on... Today I'm weighing in at 280 lbs.  Ive been taking my Iodine plus since December 8th.

I'm not changing how I eat other then to try to insure I eat three times a day and I'm getting up early instead of staying up all night.

I weighted in wearing sweat pants shirt and slippers.. It is way to cold to strip to shorts. LOL....

I saw a program on PBS last night. They were doing their let's raise money program. The main topic was living in harmony with yourself, the earth, God and the universe. That isn't what it was called but that is what it was. The speaker was using the book of Job, in the bible.  I'm trying to find the chapter/verse he quoted.. It was all about picturing what and who you want to be, and not imposing all the trash you put into your conscious mind as that is fed to your unconscious mind and then your unconscious mind prepares you for the results of that negitive feed back. He was saying the universe gives you (in reality) what your unconscious mind thinks you want. So that you should, prepare your unconscious mind in the last few minutes before you go to sleep by picturing your self as you want to be. No, not really as you want.. but as you are! He teaches that as you see yourself you are.  He believes this in everything. If you can not imagine it you can not create it. If you become in your mind what you create with your imagination , then you can accomplish anything.

When I was younger, in my twenties I believe, I used this way of thinking but had lost it  as I grew older. I am  going to use this in everything I do from now on.

Together these hormones regulate how your cells use energy. The pathways by which cells use energy is called metabolism. Your body’s general metabolism determines blood pressure, heart rate, and weight.

Hypothyroidism is a condition where your thyroid gland does not make enough thyroid hormone. Low levels of thyroid hormone interfere with the body’s ability to perform normal metabolic functions such as efficient use of energy from food products, regulation of many chemical reactions in the body, and maintenance of healthy cells, bones and muscles, to name a few..
There is no known prevention for hypothyroidism, nor is there a cure. Once you have it, you have it for life.



There are no symptoms that are unique to hypothyroidism. There may be no symptoms early in the disease process. Long standing, untreated hypothyroidism can cause obesity, joint pain, heart disease, and infertility. Other symptoms can include:
  • increased sensitivity to cold
  • constipation
  • depression
  • fatigue
  • weakness
  • heavier menstrual flow
  • brittle hair and nails
If left untreated, the following symptoms can occur:
  • hoarseness
  • puffiness of the face, hands, and feet
  • slowed speech
  • decreased taste and smell
  • thin eyebrows
  • thickened skin
  • coma (called “myxedema coma”)
Your doctor first conducts a physical exam and reviews of your medical history. This can reveal any procedures like thyroid surgery or radiation treatments connected to hypothyroidism. Family history might reveal a close relative with autoimmune disease. Medication history might be positive for drugs, such as lithium and amiodarone that can cause the condition.
Because hypothyroidism is most often found in women over age 50, some doctors advocate thyroid function screening for this group. Doctors also may suggest screening women of childbearing age.

Blood tests also are common. These include:
  • thyroid function tests: T4, T3RU and TSH
  • tests for pituitary function: TSH
  • cholesterol (can be elevated)
  • CBC (may show anemia)
  • liver enzymes (can be elevated)
  • prolactin (can be elevated)
  • electrolytes (sodium can be low)
In hypothyroidism, T4 is low and TSH is high. This means the pituitary is sending more TSH to stimulate the thyroid, but the thyroid does not respond. A low TSH indicates the pituitary may be the cause of hypothyroidism.




I have quite a few of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. So about 6 months ago I started taking a Iodine suppliment. During that time my weight droped from 290-285 to 265. Then 2 montrhs ago my car broke down and I couldn't afford to buy any more Iodine, I had to pay for the car repairs... I'm back up to 281. Three days ago I started taking the Iodine supplement again. 

Hopefully I'll drop the weight, but it looks like I'll always need to take the supplement. My Doctor tested me and I'm low in the normal range so no prescription...but as long as it is safe for me I'll do the supliment.

23andme.com has medical tests that can indicate if you have genes that indicate you could be over weight.. Which of course means you would need to be stricter on your programs. To me the main and true concept to weight control, is you spend in energy what you take in in calories..


It is when we let it go then a few years later we go how did I get soooooooooooo fat? Because we did not spend as much energy as the calories we took in. and what took you 20 years to put on you can't take off in two days...  Walk walk walk and then run if yiu can or swim... or??

mid-month shopping day

There are two days a month that I do nothing else but go to town and shop...

The first business day of the month and the third Wednesday if the month. These are my pay days and I pay bills and shop for groceries.

So of course no walking... Yea Right??!!   What do you walk in a average shoping day?  Probably a lot more then you think!

it is way to hot... stopped watering my squash, can't afford to go get water every other day...packing water is not how you garden in a  heat wave. didn't have any little babies anyway.. Still watering the one tomato plant.

Way to hot we need rain desperately.. I put a dish under my air conditioner's dripping at least some animals will get some water.. I have a set up for birds too.

Walking on Sunday



6-18-12 Monday
I was busy all day and didn't walk till 10:30.

Speed 1.0 time was a little short I only did 20:05 minutes, distance 0.35

Crap, I just killed a scorpion this is the third one in my house in 5 years. I need to find something to get rid of them.. I just looked up and there it was on my computer desk about 12 inches from my arm.
The first one was on my leg and it was a only by grace it didn't sting me..I reached down and brushed it off without looking, then looked  - scared the pee right out of me...
I'm so jumpy right now.. every time a cat's hair brushes me I'm thinking scorpion...Anyone have any ideas?

Friday June 15, 2012,   I had every intention of walking at least 30 minutes, but I just kept working on merging the duplicates of people in my genealogy file. Later and later it became --- My sister has been redoing her kitchen in her house, I started fixing mine last year and never have finished... LOL, I got the bug!... I started painting (To make up for not walking.. yea right) at about 8:30 pm and worked and painted and rebuilt and, and , and.....it was 4:30am before I went to bed. And I still was not finished.

I got up at 1:00 pm Lordie I slept late... but I started working on rebuilding the island cabinet. I'm finished with the building part but will need to finish the painting... and NO I did not walk today... Did you?


When you walk in the door you see the center picture #1 the picture on the left is the left wall #2 lt has white built in cabinets then the picture on the right is the wall on the right #3.


The picture with the door is the end of #2 and the beginning of the wall that shares the living room/bedroom.

this is to the right as you walk in the doorway. All this wood work will be whiteand the flowers and vines will also be back where the red x's are with a white back ground sort of what you see in front.

Yaa'll probably think I'm crazy but I like color and since I live alone I can do what I want to...I should finish it in about a week. The hardest part is the standing it causes my legs to hurt! but I'll take a couple of pain pills and go to bed...

I just realized, how screwed up my mind was.... I was thinking today was Monday...  and wrote all that with the wrong days.. Never mind I corrected it all....

The more I look at my kitchen the more I like it...

Water Hauling Day..

Thursday: 14 June 2012 - I am a bad bad Girl.. I missed walking Thursday, but I did go down  the road and hauled water.. WE still do not have a well, and that is very definitely exercise..lets see water weights about 8 lbs  a gallon and I filled 6  five gallon buckets with lids and 20 gallon jugs. They are filled  in my truck bed. I fill them with a hose then have to take them out and store them on my porch. so one day every two weeks or twice a month I lift weights..LOL ..

Friday: 15 June 2012: speed 1.0; time 30:00 minutes, distance 0.48

I have to drink 5 hour energy to even have the energy to walk . I started taking Iodine plus and hope that helps. It is good for the thyrod... I'll be starting my second bottle soon.

Hey Barb, How is your walking going?? LoAnn, I'd never keep up with you.  You know what is hard about this...doing it alone.. My knee is hurting again. I almost joined a class action, the Knee the VA used is having lots of bad reactions.. mainly you still hurt!.. LOL  But I don't want to bring the VA into a class action against the maker..

Wt. Loss

Hi,
When I smoked it took numerous trys to convince myself that I must stop. 
After 6 years if being a non smoker I know it was worth the effort. I guess loosing weight is going to be the same. Just keep on keeping on...

  So I restarted. LOL it is going to work... period!

Denial - Do you suffere from it?

I think I do, I hate the idea of excersizing.. I use denial to keep me from thinking I really need to lose weight, or DIE...at close to 290 I stress my heart, my lungs, the entire body, but until I convince myself I really want to do this I just struggle with it. On again Off again.. and it makes no sience, none at all. I have started listening to my radio, I used to love to dance and at least I stand up and dance once or twice a day...

I'm going to try harder... until I accomplish my goals, setting on my butt all day will not do that.

Being lazy?

Hi,
I guess in a way I've been lazy... but with an artificial knee, sometimes I push to hard then play lazy for a while. It would be better if I just walked a simple thirty minutes a day. Well I was lazy until the about the 28th. You see I and my sister ride 250cycle scooters, and our road being so ruff it is hard to ride up this road so we had them in a storage unit at the beginning of the road, but this last month the owner sort of disappeared, I had no one to pay for the rental... So we had to move them out .. but the MC shop down the highway about 3nmiles away had no where to store them inside.. so I asked permission to rent a spot to put a storage building on they said yes. and it took 7 days to build it fron scratch. 4v days ago the 6th we finished.
Now they are save, protected and easy to access. The motorcycle shop... MY PLACE.. is run by a very nice couple. We have put security lights on the building.

it is a 10ft x 10ft, perfect for our two bikes.and its not over by the shop so shouldn't bother anyone..
the ramp it really sturdy.

 The blue one is mine... we ride when ever possible....
not bad for 72 and a 67 yr olds.

so I wasn't completely lazy. I will say I had a helper. but we did work together!

It's my birthday - Are you doing the Walk?

LOL, WEll I had to stay off my left leg. It was swollen up from pushing to hard but tomorrow, actually today later; I will start walking again, but only 30 minutes not a full hour each day. I have bone on bone in my left knee and an artificual knee on the right leg.

I'll be right back there doing the Walk..... just give me a few to get back into it...

Lightening Strikes twice..

Oh my I posted two days in a row, LOL..and lighting didn't strike me...now we are working on three.

Speed 1.2 for 60:35, distance of 1.20 tens of a mile. Talked to my grand daughter, she said she is walking every morning. Wish shed come talk but I don't think she will.

It would be nice to have someone sharing their thoughts here.

Feb 9th and on time

Lordie.... I get an Apple award for posting two days in a row...LOL!!

Walked at a speed of 1.3 miles an hour I walked for 60:33 minutes and covered as distance of 1 mile and .25 tenths.
That inits self deserves the Great Apple Award!

I watched The biggest loser on Tuesday and the guy the voted off didn't want help. or acceptance he was so involved with an attitude, he made people not like him.. This was my fist episode this season and even I didn't like him. Glad his sister got to stay, she was different from him like night and day...is different.

Glad it showed him losing weight though we all deserve help....

Jan 25, Day 27 toward my nice trim 67 yr old body.

I made my entry on time.. he he he....
well that book V for vengence is pretty good. I was reading it while I walked and didn't even notice  the time, I was so involved..

A  speed of 1.4 for 1 hour 1minute and 23 seconds, for a distance of 1 mile and 4 tenths. Pretty good book. In fact it pulls you into the plot just like Anne McCaffrey's books do.

Jan 24, 2012, Day 26

Hiiiiieeee, LOL I'm backk

Well, it sorta like clock work.. You do it cause you have to... Started a new book V is for Vengeance normally I'm into the fantisy fiction.. but I joined one of those book clubs... and didn't get the I don't want those button pushed in time vand got these so I might as well read them.n I've never read Sue Grafton before.. not bad... got me through the walking today.

Speed 1.4 for 38:41, for a total distance of .88 tense of a mile.  In 1970 I walked off almost 100 lbs in 5 months but I hardly ate and I do not plan to do it that way ever again.
To stay healthy you have to eat correct meals and excersize accordingly... also 40 yrs difference too. wish you'd stop and talk to me.. but I understand weight loss isn't important to most of you reading this, but are you taking into consideration one day you'll be old and fat too..

My walk was ranged between 1.3/1.5/1.8 and 2.0 I walked 30:05 for a distance of .66 miles. I live in a Oak forest. Should be out there walking, but I love my BOWFLEX...

Well, I did it again, and no ones complained..... or have you given up? I don't know how good the scales are but the one at Woods grocery store in the Ladies bathroom said 262 lbs that would be 284-262= 22 vpounds lost.. WOW a good start if nothing else!

Maybe if the loss continues this way I'll impress my Doctor....I don't see her until May 14th.

I may not have written but I sure did walk. I guess I'm just no good at blogging ... LOL can't seem to get here every day. But then no one talks to me so I guess it doesn't matter does it, as long as I walk and don't eat to much.  My daughter has diabetes...is over weight and still does not talk to me.. here.. LOL ! but that does not matter...

9 Jan 12 - day 13 I did speed 1.5 for time 31.38 distance .68
10 Jan 12 - day 14 1.7 miles per hour, for 30 minutes and 24 seconds
for a distance of .76 tenths of a mile
11 Jan 12 - day 15 1.8 mph - 45.04, 1mile and .02 tenths
I weighted at my sisters on Sunday the 8th at 284.4 pounds, hopefully this next Sunday I'll have dropped a few pounds.
Now you need to believe in you!

Don't be upset if you need help, or even if you have to try more then once. Just don't give up - ever. No person ever walked when they were  born, they needed to be taught. So we find people to help us, to teach us.

You will succeed if you believe you will succeed.

The blowflext is still groaning as I use it.. weighted in at my sister's 284.4 pounds Ugly!!!! but it will come off!

When is the biggest loser going back on... I turned off my direct TV It was 60.00 some odd dollars a month I can use that for something else!

Day 10

Hi....
I was using the tread climber (as a treadmill) last night and it started making sounds.. so I took mit apart there was cat hair and cat litter (clean litter) in the treads so I spent 2 1/2 hours cleaning it.. I put the shocks back on it to make it an elliptical set them at 12 the lowest readings and walked/climbed for 10 minutes thought I was going to die.... I am not ready to start doing exercising on the elliptical. I took them off and did 10.34 minutes at .08. My knee has hurt all day.. Just walked .30 miles for 15.34 minutes at 1.5   miles per hour.

My bowflex tread climber is still making noise... Living where I do there is no Bowflex repairman locally... bummer! I'll try calling them and asking about repairs...

Hi...
Jan 2 is really the 7th day late afternoon 2 jan I walked.38 tenths of a mile at .08 miles per hour and it took me 31 minutes and 03 seconds.
Now the skip day, That was my shopping day I spent 6 + hours in town shopping.
Yesterday Jan 4th at 11:30 pm I walked .42 tenths of a mile at .08 for speed for 34 minutes and 20 seconds.
I have been busy all day working on the Lost Colony website..
